Obviously without knowing in advance what is to be painted no prices can be given but a simple motif or character can be as little as €45. I always work to a pre arranged budget.
The cost of a mural depends on several factors, such as size, amount of detail, whether or not it includes the ceiling and the condition of the surface to be painted.
Ceiling work is usually charged at 1 ½ times the price of walls, if the hiring of scaffolding is necessary then that would come under additional costs. On a large project I normally request 30% of the payment in advance to cover the material costs and transport with the remaining 70% only to be paid on completion. On small jobs payment is on completion.
Furniture decoration prices are very reasonable, more so if the piece/pieces can worked on in my studio avoiding daily transport costs.
No not at all. The surfaces to be painted sometimes need to be prepped in order to create a suitable surface to work on ie. Any flaky paint removed, cracks filled in and a white coat of primer if the wall is a dark or incompatible colour. The client can do this for themselves, or pay me to do it,(I work at a lower rate for this.). Once this is done I only need to have comfortable access to the area being painted which normally only involves shifting a bit of furniture slightly and all paints and materials can be packed up and taken away at the end of each day.

This obviously depends on the size, detail involved in the mural. For example one wall of 10metre sq. with a mixture of high and low detail could take 1 to 2 weeks, while an entire room including the ceiling and furniture could take up to a month, a few simple motifs can take less than a day.

Ideally I would visit the site to see the space and discuss ideas and possibly take a few digital photos or measurements. If this is not possible the client can e-mail the information. Then I would produce one or more preliminary sketches for approval, these I could deliver by hand/post or e-mail.
Once a final design has been decided upon then I can give a quote for the job. The quote is priced according to the design and materials needed not on an hourly rate.
All of this service is free of charge.

Assuming you don't already have a set idea then choosing a design is a collaboration which depends on personal taste, function (ie. is it a bedroom or restaurant dining room, garden wall and so forth) and budget.
If the mural or furniture is for a child/children then it is important to choose a design that they are not going to outgrow too quickly. Murals are a fantastic way to encourage a child's creativity as well as giving them some control over their environment.
Some possible suggestions for girls starting with younger ideas are; princesses, fairies, glittery castles, flowers and butterflies, then for older girls more of a "groovy chic"/ "disco diva" themes.
Boys ideas; pirates, dinosaurs, dragons and castles, super heroes, trains, up to football and bachelor pad themes.
Unisex murals for creches or shared spaces can include the jungle, under the sea, outer space, the circus, nature, hot air balloons etc. etc.
A baby's nursery is important in that it should be both stimulating and relaxing not the easiest of combinations. Popular themes include farmyard scenes, the seaside, nursery rhymes and well established characters such as Winnie the Pooh and Peter Rabbit.

6. What do I get with a complete room makeover ?
An entire make over includes murals (not obligatory of course!), I have the services of two carpenters available to create bespoke bedroom furniture which could be anything from a pirate ship bed to a toadstool chair or just decorate the existing furniture to match the theme. You could have extras such as glow in the dark details or magnetic wall paint to create an invisible notice board and change all the textiles to enhance the room.
